Mercury rises in Kashmir
Srinagar, May 6 (UNI) People in the Kashmir valley felt the heat today with the temperature nearly touching 30 degrees Celsius.
The met office here said the maximum temperature in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir was recorded at 29.0 degrees Celsius, seven degrees above normal while the minimum stood at 11.8 degrees Celsius.
It said Pahalgam and other hill resorts also witnessed slightly high temperatures. In Pahalgam, the maximum stood at 24.4 degrees Celsius while the minimum was recorded at 5.0 degrees Celsius.
The met office said heat wave conditions prevailed in Jammu where the maximum temperature was recorded at 39.1 degree Celsius.
While the minimum temperature in the winter capital of the state stood at 23.5 degrees Celsius.
Rain and thunder showers at several places across the state, have also been predicted.
