Advani calls for new law to tackle human trafficking
Gorakhpur, May 6 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani today said Parliament should introduce a new law to deal with human trafficking.
''There is an urgent need for such a law that could deal with serious issues like human trafficking. They should not be left only upon the Indian Penal Code (IPC),'' Mr Advani told UNI here.
Involvement of MPs in human trafficking is a criminal offence.
Even though, investigations are on, Parliament should also take necessary steps in this regard, he said.
''A 'model conduct committee' should be set-up to deal with such cases,'' the BJP leader added.
He also observed that many MPs, besides the accused BJP MP Babu Bhai Katara, are involved in similar offence.
Mr Advani said, ''The accused MPs in the 'cash for query' scam should have been expelled for a year and not suspended.'' Indicating the chances of a hung assembly in UP, Mr Advani alleged the Congress would get a chance to impose President's rule in the state in a situation of fractured verdict.
Reiterating that the BJP would emerge as the biggest political party he denied any alliance with other parties.
After recent victory of the BJP in Punjab, Uttarakhand and MCD elections, it is time for party's victory in UP and coming assembly polls in Goa, Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh, he added.
