Innovative computer programme for slum children launched

Jaipur, May 5 (UNI) Rajasthan is all set to launch 200 minimally invasive education (MIE) playground learning centres (PLCs) aimed at promoting computer education among school children belonging to economically weak sections.

The tripartite memorandum of the understanding cum agreement was signed today by Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC), Rajasthan Council of Elementary Education (RCEF) and Hole-in-the-Wall Education Ltd (HiWEL), an NIIT venture, marking the introduction of HiWEL in Jaipur.

As part of the agreement, HiWEL will set up 200 playground learning centres with 400 computers in 200 low income schools in and around slums in Jaipur. Hundreds of children from adjoining slums and deprived communities will have access to educational content and games and learn in an enviornment which will allow them to build and improve their understanding through observation, exploration discovery and collaboration with minimal intervention from adults.
