Security beefed up on railways after terror threat
Lucknow, May 4 (UNI) Security has been tightened on all trains and railway stations in the state, following the receipt of an letter by a terrorist outfit threatening to blow up New Delhi, Ghaziabad and Aligarh railway stations.
Railway police today told UNI that Baroda control room had received a letter last night, which threatened New Delhi, Ghaziabad and Aligarh railway stations would be bombed between May 10 to 12.
Yesterday, Lucknow-New Delhi Shatabdi Express was halted at Manaknagar here, following a bomb scare soon after it left the Charbagh Railway Station.
Northern Railway Chief Controller Najib-ul-hasan had received the information about bomb aboard the superfast train. However, nothing was found and Shatabdi Express chugged off around 1810 hrs.
A similar incident was reported at Bulandshahr district, where Khurja station master had received a letter claiming to bomb several stations including Lucknow and Varanasi stations.
