JK: 70.55 cr spent on developmental works
Srinagar, May 4: The frontier district of Kupwara, once the hub of militants, is on the right track of making overall development as Jammu and Kashmir government has spent Rs 70.55 crore on various schemes in the last financial year.
The amount spent on various developmental and welfare schemes in the district till March, 2007 constitutes 90 per cent of the total expenditure.
This information was given by the District Development Commissioner, Kupwara, Kachoo Asfandyar Khan here today,at an officers' meeting convened to review the progress under district plan.
The meeting was told that under Social and General Services, Rs 30.04 lakh were spent for extending education, health and other basic facilities to the people.
Rs 16.57 lakh for road connectivity and infrastructure under communications sector.
He said under Rural Development programme 6.45 crore were spent for rural infrastructure, Rs 7.50 crores for the development of Agriculture and allied sectors.
Similarly under industries sector Rs 2.10 crores were spent.
It was further given out that Rs 1.67 crore were spent for the construction and fencing of seven public health centers in the district.
