Red Fort shootout case verdict reserved
New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today reserved its verdict in the Red Fort shootout case involving Lasker-e-Toiba militant Mohammed Arif.
A division bench headed by Justice R S Sodhi reserved its order saying that ''the verdict would be pronounced later.'' The subordinate court had awarded capital punishment to Pakistani militant Mohammed Arif alias Ashfaq.
Ashfaq's Indian wife Rehmana was also convicted for conspiracy.
The court also awarded life imprisonment to Nazir Ahmed Qasid and his son Farooq Ahmed Qasid, who were found guilty of waging war against the state and criminal conspiracy.
Babar Mohsin Baghwala and Matloob Alam were also sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment for their complicity in the crime.
One civilian and two soldiers belonging to Rajputana Rifles died in the Red Fort attack on December 22, 2000.
