New Delhi, May 4: Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today denied reports that the government was planning to end the Budget session abruptly on May 8, stating that there was enough business for the two Houses at least till May 15.

Mr Dasmunsi made the statement in response to Prof Vijay Kumar Malhotra's reference to news reports over the possible premature adjournment of Parliament in view of the May 11 counting of votes in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

The Minister said the agenda of the House had nothing to do with UP elections.

Prof Malhotra also said this was being planned by the centre as it was considering imposition of President's rule in Uttar Pradesh in the event of a hung assembly and no party being in a position to form the government there.

Leader of the Opposition L K Advani also said Mr Dasmunsi had approached him last week, seeking his consent for taking up the Finance Bill ahead of schedule in view of Finance Minister P Chidambaram's other commitments.

Mr Advani said he had accepted the proposal in good faith, but it was a serious matter if the Finance Bill, passed by the House yesterday, had been taken up ahead of schedule to facilitate the adjournment of Parliament sine die.

Mr Dasmunsi said there seemed to have been a communication gap between Mr Advani and Prof Malhotra as only this morning he had made it clear at the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee, where Prof Malhotra was present, that the House had business at least till May 15. It was only expected that Prof Malhotra would have conveyed it to Mr Advani, he remarked.
