Faizabad, May 4 (UNI) Praising the Mulayam Singh Yadav regime in Uttar Pradesh, cine star-turned MP Jaya Bachchan today claimed the former has transformed the state into an 'Uttam Pradesh.' ''Except Mr Yadav, no political leader was serious and concerned about the development of UP. The development works done under his rule had not been taken up by the non-SP governments,'' Ms Bachchan said addressing an election meeting here.

Seeking support for the SP, the MP asked the electorate to vote in favour of her party to carry out the task of development.

Wooing women voters, she asserted that the SP is the only party which respects women and therefore, has given them adequate representation in the party.

The gathering was also joined by another film star-turned-party MP Jaya Prada, who lambasted BSP chief Mayawati for indulging in ''jail politics.'' ''Mayawati has gone astray. She has changed the definition of politics by claiming to jail Mr Yadav and party general secretary Amar Singh,'' she said.
