Mother jumps to death after inlaws harass daughter for dowry
New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) Perturbed over her newly married daughter being harassed by her inlaws for dowry, a 48-year-old woman allegedly jumped from the terrace of an eight-storey building in Dwarka area of South West Delhi this morning.
Gurwinder Walia jumped from the terrace of 'Celestial Heritage' building, where she lived, in Sector II, Dwarka, at about 0900 hrs soon after returning from a walk with her husband Jaspal Walia, a businesssman, according to sources.
She was brought dead to the hospital, sources added.
Neighbours said she was disturbed and tense for the last couple of days after her daughter's inlaws complained about the 'shortcomings' in the marriage solemnised on April 28, and harrssed her daughter.
In her suicide note she said that she could not bear the pain and anxiety to satisfy them hence was forced to take the extreme step.
