Metal prices rise further on good industrial demand

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) Metal prices rose further on good industrial demand here as well as in the London Metal Exchange, traders at the Bombay Metal Exchange said today.

In the ferrous section, copper heavy hiked by Rs 300 per quintal while copper utensils and brass utensils went up by Rs 200 each per quintal on fresh demand. But aluminium utensils fell by Rs 100 per quintal on thin buying support.

In the non-ferrous section, copper wire bar shot up by Rs 700 per quintal while zinc slab and lead ingots increased by Rs 400 and Rs 100 per quintal respectively, on improved demand.

Tin slab and nickel cathode fell by Rs 10 and Rs 20 per kg on sustained heavy selling pressure.

Following are the spot metal prices per quintal: Ferrous metals: Copper heavy - Rs 37,000, Copper utensils - Rs 34,200, Brass utensils - Rs 26,500, Brass cuttings - Rs 27,500 and Aluminium utensils - Rs 11,800.

Non-ferrous metals: Copper wire bars - Rs 41,000, Aluminium ingots - Rs 14,200, Zinc slabs - Rs 20,000, Lead ingots - Rs 10,100, Tin slab - Rs 750 (per kg) and Nickel cathode - Rs 2,300 (per kg).
