Lok Sabha adjourned due to lack of quorum

New Delhi, Mar 4 (UNI) The Lok Sabha was today adjourned due to lack of quorum during a discussion on a Private Members Bill.

The House was debating a Private Members Bill on the need for formulating and implementing a comprehensive food and nutritional security scheme aiming at total eradication of hunger from the country. The resolution in this regard was moved by Mr Naveen Jindal, a Congress MP, on December 15, 2006, and the discussion was resumed by Mr Kiran Rezu (BJP).

When Mr Francis Fanthome (Nominated) was speaking, Mr Chinta Mohan (Cong) raised the point that there was no quorum in the House.

In the Chair was Mr Giridhar Gamang, who asked Mr Francis to stop his speech and ordered that the bell be rung to summon the members.

This was done twice.

While a number of Members came into the House, yet the quorum was not complete.

Mr Gamang adjourned the House till Monday.
