Kerala HC stays Smart City land acquisition
Kochi, May 4 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today stayed for two weeks the acquisition of land, belonging to one Abdul Khader, for the 'Smart City' infopark project here.
Justice T R Ramachandran Nair gave the interim stay on the petition of Mr Khader, a resident of Kakanad area, where the proposed Smart City project of Dubai Internet City is to come up.
Mr Khader contended that the acquisition proceedings started by the district administration through a notification on October 15, 2004, had lapsed as the government had failed to pass an award within the stipulated two-year period.
In its interim order, the court directed that the petitioner not be dispossessed of his land by force for a period of two weeks.
