IndianOil to sell reserved railway tickets

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) Reservation of railway tickets is going to be as easy as filling your car tank! In yet another e-ticket initiative to substantially upgrade passenger amenities, the Railways today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Oil Corporation under which IOC petrol pumps and its LPG ditribution outlets would sell reserved tickets for passengers.

The MoU was signed between Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC) Managing Director P K Goel and IOC Executive Director (Retail sales) A M K Sinha here.

Dr Goel said IRCTC was set up by the Railway Ministry with the basic purpose of modernising and bringing professionalism in the catering and tourism activities of Indian railways.

''The huge latent demand in the country for tickets at home has been met because of IRCTC, which has already developed such facilities,'' he added.

Mr Sinha said the comfort of booking railway tickets conveniently at IndianOil sales outlets, a major touch point for commuters, would surely come as a massive relief for them.

He said IndianOil, initially, would introduce this facility in about 500 outlets.

''The tickets will be available to the end-customer on cash payment,'' he pointed out.
