IIIT Allahabad to represent India at worldwide finals of Imagine Cup
New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) Students from Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Technology (IIIT) Ahmedabad, the winners of the Imagine Cup 2007, will represent India at the global event to be held at Seoul in South Korea in August.
''The competition was not easy and we have high hopes that we would also win in Seoul,'' said one of the members of the winning team.
The students of the team Blue Leaf, chosen from among 12,000 students from 1000 colleges across the country, had undertaken a project under the name of Recog.
It is for the fifth time that India would be participating in the worldwide finals of the Imagine cup.
The team Gras and Abaha were runner ups in the competition, sponsored by Microsoft and organised in association with NASSCOM.
Speaking on the occasion, Microsoft India General Manager, Developer and Platform Evangelism Tarun Gulati said, ''Such events play a big role for the young generation to use their creativity, knowledge and technical abilities towards making the world better through technology and encourage students to develop applications that are of a relevance in present world.'' ''Innovation is going to a be a key enabler for sustaining the competitiveness and leadership status of the Indian IT industry.
Paltforms like the Imagine Cup offers an impetus to develop and nurture an innovation capability among the Indian students, '' said NASSCOM Vice-President Rajkdeep Sahrawat.
The wining team were awarded a cash prize of a cash prize of Rs one lakh.
