High-level police moot plan to counter naxalites
Dumka, May 4 (UNI) In the wake of a rise in Naxalite activities in the Santhal Pargana block, a high-level meeting of police was held here today.
Additional Director General of Police (Special Branch) Gauri Shankar Rath, Inspector General H K Mishra, IG M M Ojha and other senior police oficials of the block took part in the meeting.
After the meeting, Mr Rath told reporters that in the past two to three years insurgency activities had gone up.
He said places adjacent to the Bengal border, areas in Dumka district like Gopi Kandar, Shikaripara and Maslia besides Godda district's Sunderpahari were identified as naxal-dominated.
However, on security reasons the ADGP did not disclose the measures being adopted to tackle the problem.
Out of 22 districts in Jharkhand, 16 are dominated by naxalites.
