Heat waves kills 2 in MP

Bhopal, May 4 (UNI) Two children died of heat waves at Bhooriyapura village in Madhya Pradesh's Dewas district today thus taking the state's summer toll to three even as evening drizzles brought relief in Jabalpur, Barwani and Satna districts.

Six kids, including two girls, took ill due to the weather in Bhooriyapura. The deceased were identified as Ravi Banjara (8) and Anti Bhil (15), who died before they could be conveyed to hospital.

Confirming the fatalities, the Bagli Primary Health Centre's Dr L P Bhargav said, ''the others are undergoing treatment.'' Indore, Khandwa, Barwani and Jhabua districts in the state's western part are reeling under the heat waves for a week. Trade was affected in Madhya Pradesh's commercial capital Indore where the maximum temperature was 43 degrees Celsius for the third consecutive day.

The state capital recorded a high of 42.8 C -- three notches above normal -- compared to yesterday's 42.2 C. Jhabua has also been recording a maximum of 43 degrees for the past few days.

The Regional Meteorological Centre spokesman said that upper air cyclonic circulation over northern Madhya Pradesh might lead to isolated thundershowers over the next 24 hours.
