Govt to plug security breaches at airports: Patel
New Delhi, May 4: Minister for civil aviation Praful Patel today assured members of parliament that the government will seriously consider all aspects relating to security arrangements at airports across the country.
His response came during a parliamentary consultative committee meeting when several members expressed concerns about reported incidents of security breach at airports.
Mr Patel said he will consider all aspects of issues and apprehensions raised, take a comprehensive review together with the ministry of home affairs and plug all possible loopholes in security arrangements at the airports.
The members congratulated the minister on progress in the civil aviation sector, especially the decision to merge government-owned Air India and Indian.
Besides, they discussed air connectivity to various parts of the country, working of private airlines, working of private airport operators and proliferation of institutes providing training for various aviation-related activities.
Secretary at the ministry of civil aviation Ashok Chawla said he will see whether any policy legal intervention is required to check creditials of these institutes.
It was decided that a special meeting will be held with private airport operators to review the progress of their work and future plans.
Among those who attended the meeting were: Mr Madhu Goud Yashki, Mr Sachin Pilot, Mr Santosh Gangwar, Mr Tapir Gao, Mr Ratilal K.
Verma, Mr Ashok Argal, Mr Ramswaroop Koli, Ms Sumitra Mahajan, Mr Santosh Bagrodia, Mr Tarlochan Singh, Mr Dinesh Trivedi and Mr Farooq Abdullah.
