CPI concerned over rise in atrocities against women
Patna, May 4 (UNI) The CPI today expressed concern over spurt in crimes against women and demanded effective measures to curb the atrocities against them.
Citing the case of torture of a dalit woman in presence of GRP personnel at the Biharsharif railway station, CPI state secretariat press release said ''It was really distressing that rail police personnel were present as silent spectators on the spot and did nothing to save the woman from inhuman treatment.'' The party also urged the government to institute a case under section of Atrocities of Scheduled Castes (prevention) and ensure stringent punishment to the culprits.
''The killing of a contractor in state capital yesterday and the recent spurt in kidnappings were proof of failure of the NDA government,'' party sources said.
