BJP warns of dire consequnces if Ramsetu demolished
New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) Warning of dire consequences in the event of the Ramsetu at Rameshwaram being demolished, the Delhi BJP today said the move which will hurt the sentiments of crores of Hindus with a big blow to the ancient cultural heritage of the nation.
The party would chalk out its strategy to compel the government to reconsider its decision at a meeting tomorrow, said Delhi BJP president Harshvardhan, adding that the meet would discuss ways and means to save the Ramsetu which was a historic and archaeological relic of the 'Treta Yuga'.
''According to mythological calculations the 30 km long Ramsetu, between Rameshwaram and Sri Lanka is 1,725,000 years old and constructed by Nal and Neel who were in God Ram's army which attacked Ravana's Lanka.'' Under pressure from the US the present UPA Government was demolishing the Ramsetu on the logic that the demolition would bring down the cost of movement of ships, he said adding that foreign experts, several organisations have petitioned the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the issue 16 times on this issue, but he chose to keet silent.
