The death toll in the rain related incidents rises to Nine
Mysore, May 3 (UNI) The death toll in the rain related incidents in the District has risen to Nine with recovery of two more bodies today.
With rain, accompanied with gusty winds, occurred today also the water have gushed into low lying areas and more than 300 trees have fallen on the road affecting movement of vehicular traffic at various places. More than six people who were taking shelter under the tree sustained minor injuries when trees fell on them.
City Corporation Commissioner Chandrasekhar told UNI that an unidentified body was recovered while firefighters were searching for bodies of a mother and her two daughters who were washed away in the flash flood yesterday.
A 22-year-old Sampath of Chandagalu village in KR Nagara was killed when lightning struck him while working in the field.
Seven people were killed yesterday, including Four fishermen when lightning struck them and three women were washed away in flash flood.
District Authorities have paid a compensation of Rs 50,000 to each of next kin of the deceased.
