Over 29 lakh MT wheat arrives in Haryana mandis

Chandigarh, May 3 (UNI) Government procuring agencies have so far purchased 26.38 lakh metric tonne (MT) of wheat, which is 90 per cent of the total arrival of 29.31 lakh MT wheat in the mandis of Haryana.

Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said that the procurement of wheat was 4.43 lakh MT more than the corresponding period during the last rabi season when only 22.30 lakh MT of wheat was procured.

He said HAFED had procured 10.17 lakh MT, Food and Supplies Department 6.30 lakh MT, Food Corporation of India 2.88 lakh MT, Agro Industries Corporation 2.56 lakh MT, Haryana Warehousing Corporation 2.35 lakh MT wheat and Confed 2.08 lakh MT.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Sirsa district has surpassed Karnal district in arrival of the wheat and was leading with a total of 4.55 lakh MT followed by Karnal 4.12 lakh MT, Kaithal 4.10 lakh MT, Fatehabad 3.99 lakh MT, Jind 3.72 lakh MT, Kurukshetra 2.71 lakh MT, Panipat 1.39 lakh MT.
