Orissa Tourism Minister injured in road accident

Sambalpur, May 3 (UNI) Orissa Excise and Tourism Minister Debi Prasad Mishra was today injured seriously in a car accident near Rairkhol, about 80 kms from here.

He was admitted to V S S Medical College and Hospital at Burla in a serious condition.

Two other people in the car were also injured.

Police said the mishap occurred when Mr Mishra, State Tourism Department Joint Director Biranchi Narayan Mishra and security guard Basant Kumar Sahu were proceeding towards Baragarh to attend the Lok Mahastov festival there.

The securityman was also injured in the accident.

The vehicle in which the Minister was travelling had a head on collision with another vehicle carrying language daily ''Koshal'' Editor Tribikam Tripathy and his son Bijaya Tripathy.

Mr Mishra and his security staff sustained serious injuries and were shifted to the VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla.

Koshal Editor Tribikam Tripathy's son Bijya Tripathy was also injured in the accident and hospitalised, police said.
