Minorities to be given greater sense of confidence: Cabinet

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) In a move aimed at instilling a ''greater sense of confidence'' in the minorities, the Union Cabinet today approved official amendments to the 103rd Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2004.

Briefing reporters on the decision, taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said the amendments would be moved for consideration and passage, possibly in the ongoing Budget session of Parliament.

''I hope so,'' Mr Dasmunsi, who also holds the Parliamentary Affairs portfolio, said in reply to a question whether it would be passed in the current session.

There would be two Bills, one to repeal the existing provisions and the other to enact a new law, he said.
