Mahajan's daughter delivers speech in condolence meeting

Mumbai, May 3 (UNI) Poonam Mahajan-Rao, daughter of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, today delivered her maiden speech in Marathi at a meeting organised to observe the first anniversay of death of her father in front of veterans like L K Advani, Gopinath Munde and Nitin Gadkari.

Her speech, which lasted for nearly 10 minutes, had a couplet of Javed Akhter and Suresh Bhatt and also recalled her relationship with father.

Ms Rao, who has now become the state BJP Yuva Morch general secretary, said she and her other family members including brother Rahul realised the greatness of their father during his last 12 days when people started praying and asking about the well-being of Pramod Mahajan.

While Ms Rao shared the dais along with Mr Advani, Rahul sat in the front row among the audience. It may be recalled that Rahul had attended the national executive meeting of the party after his father's death. But later, he was embroiled in the drug controversy and effectively, his plans to enter the political arena were shelved.
