HC directs Delhi Govt to fill up 15,000 teachers vacancies

New Delhi, May 3 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today directed the Delhi government to fill up about 15,000 vacancies of teachers in government-run schools in the capital.

Justice S Murlidhar directed the authorities to recruit teachers for the schools as studies of thousands of students were affected.

The court had earlier formed a committee comprising Chairman Delhi Staff Selection Board(DSSB), Additional Director of Directorate of Education(DOE) and Additional Director of Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD) to initiate steps to fill up the vacancies.

Advocate Ashok Agrawal appearing for Social Jurist, the petitioner, said there are about 10,000 vacancies in Delhi government schools and 5000 in MCD schools for the past several months.

About 400,000 students in the capital were deprived of proper education due to lack of teachers, Mr Agarwal said.
