Haryana Tourism registers record revenue receipt

Chandigarh, May 3 (UNI) The Haryana Tourism Department has set an all time record by registering a revenue receipt of Rs 172 crore during the last financial year.

Stating this, Haryana Minister of State for Forest and Tourism Kiran Choudhry said the turnover had showed a net increase of 12 per cent as compared to previous year.

She said it was an astounding achievement for the department which was running into losses consecutively from the year 1996 to 2001.

Ms Choudhry said that operational profit of department to the tune of Rs 3 crore had doubled as compared to 2004-05.

She said there was an increase of 76 per cent in occupancy in the tourist complexes which was highest during the past one decade.

Meanwhile, the Minister said the deparment was planning to convert tourist complexes as venues for theme parties and adventure camping.
