Gold dips but off one month low, Tokyo on holiday

SINGAPORE, May 3 (Reuters) Gold dipped today as a firm US dollar and declines in crude oil reduced the metal's safe-haven appeal.

--Spot gold eased to $672.50/673.00 an ounce from $673.00/673.50 an ounce late in New York yesteray, when it had fallen to $667.30 -- its lowest level since April 4.

--Japanese investors were out of action with Tokyo gold futures closed for the Golden Week holiday. The benchmark gold futures for April 2008 delivery on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange ended 14 yen per gram lower at 2,622 yen ($21.83) yesterday.

-- Oil fell below $67 a barrel yesterday, after the US government report showed a build in crude inventories last week in the world's top consumer due to weak demand from refiners and an uptick in imports.

-- The euro drifted off to $1.3586 today, from $1.3592 in New York, extending a pullback from last week's record high above $1.3680.

-- Platinum rose to $1,286/1,291 an ounce from $1,285/1,289 an ounce.

-- Palladium was at $368/373 an ounce, steady from late New York levels.

-- Silver fell to $13.20/13.23 an ounce from $13.21/13.24 but off Wednesday's one-month low of $13.00.
