CBI designate court awards RI to six fodder scam convicts

Ranchi, May 3 (UNI) A designated CBI court today delivered judgement on the quantum of punishment to six accused, including four government employees in connection with the multi-crore fodder scam case of Pakur Treasury.

The designated court awarded rigorous imprisonment of four years and a fine of Rs 50000 each to all the government officials and five years of rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 100000 to Tripurari Mohan Prasad and Sushil Kumar, the two suppliers.

The imprisonment would increase to three months in case the accused failed to pay the fine, the court stated The accused were found guilty under section 120 B read with 420, 465, 468, 471, 477 of IPC and 13 (2) read with 13 (1) (D) Prevention of Corruption Act.

Altogether nine were accused but the court found six guilty on April 30.

Two of the other three were set free on the benefit of doubts while Md Basmuddin, the main accused who transferred Rs 5.5 lakh to Pakur office and misused the fund, died while facing the trial.
