K'taka: UPA-anti women says Kiran Maheshwari
Bangalore, May 2: BJP Mahila Morcha National President Kiran Maheshwari today alleged that the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at the Centre has proved itself as 'Anti-Women' by not bringing forth the Women Reservation Bill.
Talking to newsmen here, she said despite beiung in office for nearly three years the UPA Government had failed to prepare even the draft legislation for women's reservation. ''This was inspite of opposition BJP's assurance to support the Bill if placed in the Parliament'', she added.
She said that "this is the situation despite Ms Sonia Gandhi, a women being Chairperson of the UPA." Ms Maheshwari said "our aim in assuring support to the Bill was not for earning credit but to see that women were empowered socially and economically." Coming down heavily on price rise, she alleged that the UPA government was promoting black marketing by not curbing inflation.
