Tata's commercial, passenger vehicle sales dip in Apr'07

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) Due to the ongoing high interest rate regime, vehicles sales of Tata Motors in the domestic market were impacted in varying degrees between the commercial and passenger segments in April 2007.

The company's sales of commercial vehicles dropped with a minor 0.34 per cent at 19,607 units in domestic market in April as compared to 19,674 vehicles sold in the corresponding month last year.

The sales of M&HCV products, which besides market conditions witnessed shortfalls in some critical components, stood at 10,392 units, a decline of 14 per cent over April last year.

However, total sales of the company jumped to 11 per cent with 40,486 units (including exports) sold in April 2007 as compared to 36,574 vehicles sold in corresponding month last year.

LCV sales were also growing by 22 per cent over April 2006 with 9,215 units sold in April 2007.

Tata Motors, passenger vehicles business reported a growth of 26 per cent with a total sale of 16,842 vehicles in the domestic market in April 2007 over April 2006 The company's sales from exports increased to 13 per cent at 4,037 vehicles in April 2007 as compared to 3,572 vehicles in April 2006, driven mainly by commercial vehicles.
