Summons issued to Mandira on saree controversy
Ghaziabad, May 2 (UNI) A local court today issued summons to TV anchor Mandira Bedi and designer Puneet Nanda to appear before it on May 8 in connection with the saree controversy.
Bedi had sparked off a furore for wearing a saree, that had flags of all 16 countries that participated in the World Cup.
The Satya Paul saree had been designed by Puneet Nanda. The Indian flag appeared in the folds of her saree near her feet.
Ajay Vir Singh, an advocate, had lodged a petition in the court of CJM, accusing Mandira of disrespecting the tricolour by wearing it as a design on her sari and violating the Flag Code.
