Patna, May 2 (UNI) Demanding a CBI probe into the killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in an alleged fake encounter, RJD today said that a murder case be instituted against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his role in the incident.

Sohrabuddin Shiekh was killed in alleged fake encouter in Gujarat on November 26, 2005 while his wife Kausarbi and aide Tulsiram Prajapati were killed on November 28, 2005.

State spokesman and senior RJD leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan told newspersons here that Mr Modi had failed to protect the lives and properties of the minorities in Gujarat and alleged he was inciting state sponsored terrorism by shielding the police officers involved in such kind of fake encounters.

''It is strange that Mr Modi and senior BJP leaders including deputy leader in Lok Sabha Vijay Kumar Malhotra and former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad are defending the fake encounter on the ground the victim had criminal antecedent,'' Mr Khan added.

He said that arrest of the three police officers in connection with the case was not enough as they were only following the diktate of their political masters. If Mr Modi was not booked in this case, people would lose their faith in rule of law, he maintained.

''DIG of Anti Terrorist Squad(ATS) D G Vanzjra, arrested in this case, had amassed properties to the tune of Rs 200 crores,'' the RJD leader alleged and said that corrupt officers were holding key positions in Gujarat.
