Redress grievances of higher secondary lecturers: CPI
Puducherry, May 2 (UNI) CPI member R Viswanathan today urged the Puducherry administration to take immediate steps to redress the grievances of the higher secondary school lecturers here.
In a special mention during zero hour, he pointed out that the lecturers had called off their agitation following the administration's assurance to look into the matter.
However, if their demands were not met, they had decided to boycott the valuation of Plus one papers, which would cause delay in declaration of the results.
In another special mention, AIADMK member A Anbazhagan urged the administration to streamline the functioning of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram here. The formation of the ashram for creation of peace and harmony was being violated and presently the ashram was functioning as a commercial institution. Not only this, several irregularties including sexual harassment were going on there, he alleged.
Another AIADMK member Om Sakthi Sekhar, in his special mention, wanted the government to initiate action against the owner of a private cable TV channel which was beaming derogatory remarks against him in the news.
He said he had already lodged a complaint to the police, but no action had been taken yet.
He said the channel owner assaulted an old man, when the latter questioned him of the actions in the channel.
Independent member Narayanasamy, in his special mention urged the administration to take steps to prevent sand smuggling from Villianur area.
He pointed out that several fatal accidents were occuring due to sand smuggling by lorries and cited a recent incident in which a motor-cyclist was dragged for nearly two km by a tipper lorry.
However, no reply was given for the special mentions from the government's side.
