MP seeks Centre's help in fertiliser supply
Bhopal, May 2 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh government has sought the Centre's cooperation to ensure timely supply of required quantity of fertiliser for the Kharif crop, saying the stock position is not satisfactory at present.
In a letter to Fertilisers and Chemicals Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today recalled the restiveness among farmers over delayed supply of urea for Rabi crop last year and requested his immediate intervention to ensure timely supply of DAP, NPK and other fertilisers.
The manufacturing companies were not coming forward to supply adequate quantity of fertiliser to Madhya Pradesh as the Centre was yet to announce subsidy for imported fertiliser and the new policy on the cost of raw materials, Mr Chouhan said.
Stating that the present stock was only one lakh tonnes, the Chief Minister said adequate arrangements had been made for storage prior to the onset of monsoon by mid-June.
Pointing out that the state got assurance for supply of only half of the requirement for 3.5 lakh tonnes of DAP and 80,000 tonnes of NPK against the requirement of 1.25 lakh tonnes, he said different companies were required to supply 4.75 lakh tonne urea and 3.25 lakh tonne SSP.
A record lifting of 8.42 tonne urea was made for Rabi crop last year, he added.
