Minor maid tortured, police hunt for culprits

Guwahati, May 2 (UNI) The city women police today rescued a 14-year-old girl who had been physically and mentally tortured by the family in whose house she had been working as a maid.

Acting on an information by the victim's sister, police brought Pari Das to the police station where she revealed that she was tortured - both physically and mentally - by Nripen Hazarika and his family where she had been working as a maid.

A case has been registered against Mr Hazarika, his wife, son and daughter under various sections of the IPC and Juvenile Justice Act.

Police said the accused have been absconding.

A resident of the Bebejia in Nagaon district, Pari's was shifted to the Jalukbari Shelter Home.

There were scars all over Pari's body, which police said were caused by physical attack.
