Kissing controversy: Shilpa issued summons for May 8

Ghaziabad, May 2 (UNI) A city court today summoned film star Shilpa Shetty to appear before it on May 8 in connection with the kissing controversy involving Hollywood actor Richard Gere.

The summons were issued on a PIL filed by Rookan Singh Tewatia, former president of Bar Association.

He contended that Richard Gere's kiss on Shilpa's cheeks during an anti-AIDS awareness programme was indecent and against Indian cultural ethos.

He said she should face action under the Indian Penal Code.
