Hyundai Motor sales up 4.85% in April

New Delhi, May 2 (UNI) Sales of Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) continued to swell registering a growth of 4.8 per cent in April at 15,728 units, thanks to a lower interest rate scheme for its customers, in the wake of the rising interest scenario.

The company sold 15,007 vehicles in the corresponding month a year ago.

There was a 4.6 per cent growth in the export front with 11,341 units exported during the month, as against 10,842 units over the same period last year, the Korean auto major said in a statement here today.

''With the increase in the interest rate, there could have been a slump in demand but we took the timely measure of introducing a special scheme of 8.99 per cent interest to serve our customers better and this obviously has helped us in keeping the momentum going and consolidate our position as the second largest passenger car manufacturer in India,'' HMIL Vice President (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxena said.

HMIL's fully integrated manufacturing plant near Chennai boasts some of the most advanced production, quality and testing capabilities in the country.

In continuation of its investment in providing the Indian customer global technology, the company is setting up its second plant, which will produce an additional three lakh units per annum, raising its total production capacity to six lakh units per annum by end of this year.

Apart from expansion of production capacity, HMIL plans to expand its dealer network, which will be increased from 183 to 250 this year.
