Haryana: BPL families get wheat at Rs 4.84 per kg
Chandigarh, May 2 (UNI) The Haryana government has disbursed 2.51 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat among 40.16 lakh beneficiaries having 8.26 lakh ration cards in the state up to March 31.
These beneficiaries belonged to below poverty line (BPL) families and were under Antodya Ann Yojna, Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said today.
He said that as much as 25 kg wheat was provided to the people living below the poverty line at the rate of Rs 4.84 per kg.
Besides, they were also provided levy sugar at the rate of Rs 6.40 per kg.
Mr Chander Mohan said that as many as 5.35 lakh ration card had been made for the people living below the poverty line, thus covering 26.24 lakh units. Similarly, 2.91 lakh ration card had been made for the people belonging to Antodya Ann Yojna Scheme having 13.91 lakh units.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that under the Antodya Ann Yojna 35 kg wheat per month per ration card was being provided at the rate of Rs 2.10 per kg. Similarly, rice was also being provided to the above categories at a rate of 10 kg per ration card at a rate of Rs 6.40 per kg.
Mr Chander Mohan said that levy sugar was also being provided to the beneficiaries of both categories 620 gm per unit from April last at the rate of Rs 13.50 per kg.
He said that kerosene was also being provided to those consumers, who were not having gas facility. They were being given kerosene at the rate between Rs 8.92 and Rs 9.67 per litre and 5.5 litre kerosene would be provided on one ration card.
He said there were 9,648 fair price shops in the state, including 6,912 working in the rural areas.
