Govt to repair damaged water tanks: Minister

Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, May 2 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government will take up repair works of damaged water tanks this summer, Minor Irrigation Minister Maganti Venkateswara Rao said today.

The Minister, who arrived here to attend a felicitation accorded by party workers, said drinking water tanks, small canals and ponds would be repaired soon.

He said the government had decided to take up the repair works of all the tanks in villages under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).

The government had sanctioned Rs 88 crore for repairing 1406 tanks in West Godavari district, he added.
