Farid University to conduct MBBS entrance test in Punjab

Patiala, May 2 (UNI) Baba Farid University of Health Sciences (BFUHS) will conduct the entrance test to MBBS course for admission to the medical colleges situated in Punjab, Medical Education Minister Tikshan Sood said here today.

The notification in this regard will be issued very soon.

Over 10,000 aspirants will be seeking admission in MBBS coure for which there are 680 seats in various medical colleges in the state.

Mr Sud said that in view of the warning given by the Medical Council of India of derecognising some medical institutions in Punjab, the state government will soon appoint medical teachers on a temporary basis to solve the problem of faculty shortage in various government-run medical and dental colleges in the state.

He further added that the government has already taken a decision to increase the retiring age of the teaching faculty in medical colleges which would solve the problem to some extent. The government would also devise steps to recruit more teachers to fill all vacancies for the proper functioning of the medical institutions and to save the colleges from de-recognition, he added.
