JK: Jawan shots at 2 PHE employees at K B Jail
Jammu, May 2: In another run amok case in Jammu and Kashmir, two state government employees received bullet injuries when a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan went on shooting spree at Kot Bhalwal Jail near here, official sources today said.
A CRPF jawan posted in Kot Bhalwal Jail went out of barrack, reportedly in drunken condition, and resorted to indiscriminate firing at nearby water point, injuring two Public Health Engineering (PHE) employees last night, IGP Jammu S P Vaid told sources.
The CRPF jawan, identified as Sepoy Dukosowa, was at large till the last reports came in, he added.
The IGP CRPF J C Dabash, however, said they had no evidence regarding their jawan being drunk at the moment of incident. The jawan, he said, had an alteration with his colleagues and went out firing indiscriminately with his service Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), where he injured two civilians.
''The jawan is on the run. We have launched a search operation to arrest him,'' he said, asserting that the incident was a run amok case.
The victims identified as Sham Lal, 48 and Sukhdev Singh, 27, both residents of village Kot Bhalwal, were immediately shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu for treatment.
There condition were stated to be stable.
Last month, a CRPF jawan had gunned down his officer at Jammu Airport.
