BJP alliance ready to sit in the opposition,if denied majority-JD(U)
Lucknow, May 2(UNI) Janata Dal (United) supremo Sharad Yadav today said that the National Democratic Alliance was ready to sit in the opposition, if it failed to get a majority in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.
''We are ready to sit in the opposition rather than going for post poll alliance to form the government'', he said, while adding that the NDA will try to force a mid-term polls if no party get an absolute majority.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr Yadav said that like Bihar, JD(U) will be interested in re-elections in UP if there is a hung assembly. JD(U) is contesting 17 seats in the UP polls in alliance with BJP.
Criticising both the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party for the backwardness of the state, he said only the NDA alliance can give a development-oriented government by improving the bad law and order situation prevailing in UP.
He also held the United Progressive Alliance(UPA) government at the Centre responsible for the misery of the farmers. '' Price hike of essential commodities have certainly affected the well being of the common people of the country'', he added.
Mr Yadav also welcomed the decision of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on the MPs involved in human trafficking and urged a speedy probe and due punishment.
