Admn told to set up Committee to implement Urdu in govt depts

Mahabubnagar, Andhra Pradesh, May 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Official Language Commission member Jeelani Prairak today suggested to the district administration to set up a district-level coordination committee to monitor proper implementation of Urdu language on par with Telugu in government departments.

Addressing a meeting of forum of officials and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) here, he said though Urdu had been declared the second Official language by the government, the government wanted to treat it on par with Telugu.

Mr Prairak said the district collector would be the Chairman of the Coordination Committee and representatives of NGOs, working for the cause of Urdu and Telugu languages, would be the members of the committee.
