10 killed as bus plunges in to gorge in AP
Guntur, May 2: Ten people, including two women and two children, were killed and 45 injured when a government owned bus fell in to a 30-feet deep gorge after hitting a parapet wall along the edge of a bridge near Venukonda in this district of Andhra Pradesh in the wee hours of today.
Police said the driver of the Road Transport Corporation bus proceeding to Kanigiri from Armur lost control over the vehicle and plunged into the gorge after hitting the railings of Gundlakamma bridge.
While seven people were killed on the spot, three succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
All the injured were admitted to the Guntur Government hospital.
Special teams swung into action to rescue the trapped people in the bus, police said.
