World Bank to provide Rs 392 crore to Nepal

Kathmandu, May 1 (UNI) The World Bank today signed an agreement to provide a grant of Rs 392.4 crore to the Nepal government for the implementation of Second Higher Education Project.

According to the Nepal's Finance Ministry, the grant assistance will be spent to enhance quality and relevance of higher education and research.

This will be done through a set of incentives for promoting effective management and financial sustainability of academic institutions, and to improve access for academically qualified underprivileged students, including girls, dalits and educationally disadvantaged janajati.

The agreement was signed by secretary at the Ministry of Finance Vidhyadhar Mallik and World Bank country director Kenichi Ohashi at the Ministry of Finance, today.
