Woman using militants to kill her husband arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 1 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police today said there was an alarming increase in criminalisation of militancy as evident with the arrest of a woman who was using the ''terror network'' to get her husband murdered.

Addressing a news conference here, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, S M Sahai said the woman, identified as Rafiqa, was arrested along with 12 other youth who were members of the Siddiq group working under the direct command of a Pakistani militant commander of the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit, Abu Tahir.

During investigations, he said it was revealed that Rafiqa had conspired with the militants of the Siddiq group to get her second husband Manzoor Ahmad Ganai killed.

Mr Sahai said there was a strong suspicion that the woman had got her first husband eliminated in a similar manner.

The other arrested members of the group have been identified as Tariq Ahmad alias Mamu alias Farhat, Abdul Rashid Janda alias Arshad, Tariq Ahmad Wani, Mohsin Mir, Liyaqat Ahmad Mir, Jameel Ahmad Ganai, Mehraj-ud-din Kumar, Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Showkat Ahmad Ganai, Shabir Ahmad Tramboo, Feroz Ahmad Malik and Abdul Majid Rather, the IGP added.
