Rijiju demands special financial package for Arunachal Police

Itanagar, May 1 (UNI) Lok Sabha MP from Arunachal Pradesh Kiren Rijiju has demanded a special financial package from the Centre for the State Police force.

"This package is needed for purchase of modern weapons, training and better facilities for the police personnel," the MP told UNI over telephone from New Delhi yesterday .

Raising the matter in the Lok Sabha while participating in the Demands for Grants, Mr Rijiju pointed out the threat to his personal security and requested the Home Minister to look into the matter personally and also give directives to the state police for taking necessary action.

He urged the Centre to expedite peace talks with the NSCN factions and also demanded judicial probe into the nexus of politicians with ultras in the country.

The MP also demanded the inclusion of Bhoti language under the Eighth schedule of the constitution, adding that the language was spoken by the people of Ladakh, Lahaul Spiti in Himachal Pradesh and some areas of Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Sikkim and Darjeeling.
