Punjab Governor and CM greet people on Budh Purnima

Chandigarh, May 1 (UNI) Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Gen. (Retd) S.F. Rodrigues and Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Buddh Purnima being celebrated tomorrow.

In a message on the eve of the auspicious occasion, General Rodrigues said that Lord Buddha was an apostle of peace, harmony, compassion and non-violence. His spiritual enlightenment, professing the concept of inner transformation, oneness of mankind and reality of one creative power, continues to act as a guiding force even today.

Greeting the people on the occasion, Mr Badal also stressed upon the relevance of Lord Buddha's pious and purposeful life to contribute to the service of society and said that this festival has a great social and religious merit, reminding us of the need for a values of humanism and secularism.

The leaders expressed the hope that people will celebrate this festival collectively, in a spirit of traditional gaiety, amity and devotion and further propagate Lord Buddha's preaching to strengthen the ties of mutual trust, universal brotherhood and harmonious living.
