No reports on AP police involvement in fake encounter: DGP

Karim Nagar, May 1 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police M A Basith today said the state police had not received any 'written report' either from the Gujarat Government or any investigation agencies on the alleged involvement of AP police in the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin Shaikh and his wife Kausar Bi.

Speaking to media here, Mr Basith said ''the media reports were saying that the state police were involved in the fake encounter. But the Department has not received any official information from Gujarat government or investigating agencies'.

''The state police would take a decision only after receiving reports from the Gujarat government on the fake encounters'', the DGP added.

Referring to the recent fake passport case unearthed following the arrest of BJP MP Babubhai Katara, Mr Basith said the police had already arrested Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) MLA K Lingaiah for allegedly obtaining fake passport for a woman in the name of his wife.

The investigation was in progress and the cases would be filed against all the accused after confirming their involvement in human trafficking, he said.

Though naxal menace and general crime had declined, white collar offences were on the rise since last year, he added.
