Isolated rains keep temperatures down in HP

Shimla, May 1 (UNI) Isolated rains in Kangra, Kullu and Lahaul Spiti districts of Himachal Pradesh kept minimum and maximum temperatures down across the state, the met office said.

Dharamshala town in Kangra district of the state received 18 mm of rainfall from 1430 hrs up till 1730 hrs, while light showers lashed isolated places in Lahaul Spiti and Kullu districts.

Thick clouds were hovering over the famous tourist resort of Shimla, which only yesterday recorded the hottest day at 26.5 degrees and night at 17.7 degree Celsius.

The sky over the state capital was cloudy since morning but cleared out by afternoon before thick clouds engulfed the sky by evening again.

Kinnuar and Chamba districts of the state were also under a layer of clouds even as the temperatures continue to remain four to five degrees above normal.

Shimla today recorded a maximum temperature of 26 degrees, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar were hot at 34.9 and 32.3 degree Celsius respectively, the met office said.

The day temperatures in the tribal region of the state were also rising with Kalpa in Kinnuar distict recording a high of 23.2 degrees.

The minimum at Shimla fell by a few notches to stand at 17.3 degrees, while the night temperature at Dharamshala stood at 21.3 degree Celsius.

The met office has predicted rain and thundershowers at isolated places in the state during the next 24 hrs.
